Our Southside location has a five-star rating from the State of Ohio Step Up to Quality Rating system.

Horizon Education Centers has provided high quality care and education for over 40 years.  Whether you're looking for child care, preschool programs, before - or after-school programs, or summer camp, Horizon offers these enrichment programs for children 18 months to 12 years of age.  Our programs focus on language and literacy, social,  emotional, and physical and development. Horizon guides children with state standards, assessments and individual learning plans, and we focus on kindergarten readiness and school age enrichment.  Each of our centers is highly rated by the State of Ohio Step Up to Quality Rating.

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Rachel Davis

Center Director, Southside

EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in business communications from the University of Phoenix, master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.

ABOUT Rachel has been in childcare for several years. As a director, Rachel’s focus is to create an environment rich with learning, nurturing and structure. Her goal is to see every child and family grow in knowledge and understanding. She has previously served as a teacher, assistant director and center director. 

Carrie Sokol

Business Coordinator, Southside


ABOUT Ms. Carrie has worked for Horizon since December 2013. She enjoys children and the energy they bring to a room.

Sonja Jackson Lead School-Age Teacher

EDUCATION CDA license in Early Childhood Education

ABOUT Ms. Sonja has always worked with children, so this career was a good fit. She has worked with Horizon for 12 years. Sonja has developed a meaningful relationship with the children and families at the center.

Shariah Pryor Lead Toddler Teacher

EDUCATION Associate degree in Arts from Lorain County Community College;  working towards CDA license in Early Childhood Education

ABOUT Ms. Shariah has been with Horizon since August 2016. Making a difference is her passion and experiencing the excitement of the children and the relationships she gains with them warms her heart and makes her job worthwhile. 

Andrea Mitchell Lead Preschool Teacher

EDUCATION Associate's degree in arts from Lorain County Community College and Bachelor's of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashland University

ABOUT Ms. Andrea has worked for Horizon Education Centers for more than three years. She has enjoyed teaching preschool and starting her new chapter with Southside.  She loves working with the staff to help enhance the children's learning.
