Horizon Education Centers has provided high quality care and education for over 40 years.  Whether you're looking for child care, preschool programs, before - or after-school programs, or summer camp, Horizon offers these enrichment programs for children 18 months to 12 years of age.  Our programs focus on language and literacy, social,  emotional, and physical and development. Horizon guides children with state standards, assessments and individual learning plans, and we focus on kindergarten readiness and school age enrichment.  Each of our centers is highly rated by the State of Ohio Step Up to Quality Rating.

ABOUT Teria Bivins started her career with Horizon right out of college. She has worn many hats, including preschool teacher, school age coordinator, program specialist, education service coordinator and now center director.

ABOUT Ms. Carrie has worked for Horizon since December 2013. She enjoys children and the energy they bring to a room.

Sonja Jackson Lead School-Age Teacher since 2003

EDUCATION CDA license in Early Childhood Education

ABOUT Ms. Sonja has always worked with children, so this career was a good fit. She has worked with Horizon for 12 years. Sonja has developed a meaningful relationship with the children and families at the center.

Shelly Napier Lead Toddler Teacher since 1999

EDUCATION Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lorain County Community College

ABOUT After having children, Ms. Shelly decided she wanted a career that involved children. She found the perfect position and started teaching in a Head Start Program. She has been teaching for 16 years.

Auradel Rivera Lead in School-Age Teacher

EDUCATION Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Hostos Community College

ABOUT Ms. Auradel is originally from New York, and when she moved to Ohio she babysat several times, which inspired her to work with children. Later, she was offered a position with Horizon and was happy to take the job.

Brittainy Schaner Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Associate of Arts Degree from Richmond Community College

ABOUT Ms. Brittainy recently returned to Lorain after living in North Carolina for 13 years. She is the proud mom of two boys.

Kait Welsandt Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Heidelberg University

ABOUT Ms. Kait started at Horizon in 2016 as an Americorps Member and spent a year helping families and creating different ideas for Family Nights.

Aida Olmeda Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Currently enrolled to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Cleveland State University

ABOUT Ms. Aida is a preschool paraprofessional for Lorain City Schools and a lead teacher at Horizon. She loves being a mom and working with children, and she can't imagine herself in any other career.
