About Child Development at Horizon Education Centers

The mission of Horizon Education Centers is to provide high-quality early childhood education, care, and youth development programs.

Organization Type

Nonprofit community charitable organization. Horizon is a 501(c) (3), educational organization under 501(a) of the IRS code. All contributions to this organization are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Organizational Structure

Horizon is governed by a Volunteer Board of Trustees (15 members). The Board oversees the operations of the organization through an Executive Director. Horizon is organized into Administrative Departments.

Service Area

Cleveland, Elyria, Grafton, Fairview, Lorain, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, North Ridgeville, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, Berea and Lakewood are the primary communities served. Horizon Education Centers also serves other cities in Western Cuyahoga County and Lorain County.

Operations

Horizon Education Centers performs two operations most through partnerships with local partner school districts and community action agencies or collaborations:

  • Early Childhood Education

    Licensed by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Horizon provides year-round child care, preschool and school-age (before & after school) programs for children 6 weeks* through 12 years of age. This also includes Head Start at the Lorain County Centers and Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) at the North Olmsted Center.

  • Supplementary Education

    Licensed by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Horizon provides year round child care, preschool and school-age (before & after school) programs for children 6 weeks* through 12 years of age. This also includes Head Start at the Lorain County Centers and Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) at the North Olmsted Center.
