Child Care Center

Horizon Education Centers has provided high quality care and education for over 40 years.  Whether you're looking for child care, preschool programs, before - or after-school programs, or summer camp, Horizon offers these enrichment programs for children 18 months to 12 years of age.  Our programs focus on language and literacy, social,  emotional, and physical and development. Horizon guides children with state standards, assessments and individual learning plans, and we focus on kindergarten readiness and school age enrichment.  Each of our centers is highly rated by the State of Ohio Step Up to Quality Rating.

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Breana Joyner

ABOUT Breana Joyner started her career with Horizon Education Centers after seeing the love and dedication that her mother had working at Horizon. Her mother inspired her to continue her education to become a teacher.

Business Coordinator, South Elyria (Wilkes Villa)

EDUCATION South High Community School 

ABOUT Mayra worked with Horizon for a little over a year before being promoted to business coordinator. Previously, she worked as a nail technician before discovering her love of working with children. She looks forward to growing with the Horizon family.

Cara King Teacher

EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Cleveland State University

ABOUT When Ms. King was in high school, she enrolled in an early childhood program that inspired her to become a teacher. The children at the center keep her on her toes. She enjoys watching her kids thrive and succeed at everything they do.

Katie Nemes Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Associate of Arts Degree from Lorain County Community College and is working toward a bachelor's degree in early childhood intervention from Ashland University

ABOUT As a child, Ms. Katie enjoyed playing school and eventually, being a teacher became her lifelong goal. She has worked in child care for three years.

Samantha White Lead Preschool Teacher

EDUCATION Associate degree in Applied Science from Lorain County Community College

ABOUT Ms. Sammy started off as an AmeriCorps member and loved working with the children in the center. After she completed AmeriCorps, she decided to join the south Elyria team. She is very passionate about her work and really enjoys teaching preschool children.

Latoya Washington Lead School Age teacher

EDUCATION GED from John F. Kennedy High School and has a school-age endorsement through the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association

ABOUT Ms. Latoya started off as a floater and worked with every age group in the South Elyria education center and moved up the ladder becoming a lead school-age teacher. She loves working with the children and enjoys completing the cooking lesson plans with them.

Jessica Panter Lead Toddler Teacher

EDUCATION Currently pursuing her associates degree in early childhood education at Lorain County Community College. She also holds an associate degree in child development for infants and toddlers. 

ABOUT Ms. Jessica has worked in child care for over 10 years and she has always had a passion for working with children. She cannot see herself in any other career. Jessica's favorite activity with the children is creating art projects.
