Conveniently located between I-90 and Colorado  Avenue in Lorain, our East Lorain Center offers enrichment programs for children ages 18 months through 12 years.

This location provides many great opportunities for students.

Our teachers develop language and literacy, as well as social, emotional, and physical skills. They guide their students with various teaching methods based on recommendations from the State of Ohio, including:

  • State Standards
  • State Assessments
  • Individual Learning plans

Horizon Education Centers focuses on kindergarten readiness and school-age enrichment, and we're a part of the Ohio Healthy Programs, ensuring your children have healthy food options daily. 

Each of our centers has a toddler playground area, preschool playground area, and school-age playground area.  

Hours: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Center Director, East Lorain

EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University

ABOUT Rebecca Wisniewski taught kindergarten for 13 years and then began her career with Horizon. She believes that Horizon Education Center’s heart is in the right place. She enjoys working with the children and the staff at the center and believes that good teamwork is the key to running a successful business, helping the children learn and grow.

Sh'lea Williams

Business Coordinator, East Lorain

EDUCATION: Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Cuyahoga Community College. Currently pursuing bachelor's degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work at Grand Canyon University. 

ABOUT: Ms. Sh'lea has been working with children and families since 2019. She loves creating activities for children and communicating with families about their child's development. Her goal is to help families in all aspects.

ABOUT Mrs. Stephanie loves her students. She enjoys molding her preschoolers and getting them ready for kindergarten. Stephanie enjoys the variety and the fact that there is never a dull moment at the Center.

Alexis Garcia School Age Lead Teacher

EDUCATION Associate degree in art from Lorain County Community College

ABOUT Ms. Alexis enjoys coming to work and helping the children, watching them grow each and every day. Her passion has always been to care for and help children, and she is thankful that she gets to do that every day at Horizon.

Jocelynn Rogers Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Graduate of Southview High School in Lorain, pursuing her Child Development Associate Certification

ABOUT  Ms. Jocelynn has been with Horizon for three years, starting her career as a classroom aide. She has worked her way up the ladder, acquiring her school-age endorsement and becoming a school-age lead teacher at East Lorain. 

Ashley Shepherd School Age Lead Teacher

EDUCATION Bachelor’s of Art Education from Bowling Green State University

ABOUT Ms. Ashley uses art as a way to communicate with the children she teaches. She's an artist herself and has had her works shown at several galleries around Ohio, including a gallery in Toledo.

Grace Planas-Suarez Toddler Lead Teacher

EDUCATION Ms. Planas-Suarez holds her Child Development Associate Certification - Birth through 3 years old. 

ABOUT Ms. Grace has been part of the Horizon East Lorain team since August 2020.  She started as a Teaching Assistant with our toddlers, and has quickly moved up the ranks. Ms. Grace is bilingual, which benefits her toddlers who learn both English and Spanish in the classroom. her three children also attend Eastern Lorain.  

Jenny Santiago Contracted Preschool Teacher

EDUCATION Child Development Associate Certification (CDA)
 
ABOUT Jenny started her child care career with Horizon in 2022 as a student teacher in the toddler room.  She looks forward to getting to know new parents and students and continuing the bond she has formed with the current students.  She left a 30 year career in the mortgage industry to pursue her calling to be a teacher and is very happy to start that career with Horizon.
