Mix mud, water, add toddlers and what do you get? A fantastic, sensory-filled experience that your child will love. At North Olmsted Horizon Education Center, the toddler Mud Day is always a great time for the kids. Sensory play is an important part of your child’s early development, says an article on PBS kids. Through touch, Mud Day helps the toddlers develop important fine motor skills and have real life experiences. Toddler play is as simple as squishing their hands and feet in the mud, or as challenging as teaching them how to fill buckets with mud and water. Sensory skills can easily be developed at home as well.

These skills, when developed early, help your child with tasks like tying their shoes, holding pencils, using scissors and eating utensils and using a keyboard. Sensory development is a focus in the toddler curriculum at Horizon Education Centers, and the happier we can make your child while learning these skills, the better!
