There’s no shortage of family-friendly activities in Berea, Ohio — including the city’s restaurants. Here are two restaurants in Berea, Ohio where families can stop for a bite to eat with the kids to enjoy good food in a setting the kids will love.

JoJo Carloni’s Italian Restaurant

Located at 627 W. Bagley Road, JoJo Carloni’s Italian Restaurant shares how you can enjoy an experience that resembles the “warmth of your grandmother’s dining room table.” Each family member can individually select what they want from an extensive menu, or you can say, “Let’s make it family style, please!” When you order from the family-style menu, you’ll get pasta, salad, and freshly baked garlic bread—enough for five or six people. Or you can swap out the pasta for another menu entrée. Closed on Sundays and Mondays, you can make reservations online or call 440-235-8880.

If eating at an Italian restaurant is new to your children or you want them to learn about Italy in fun ways, plenty of age-appropriate books about Italy are available to read before you go. For example, Little Ricky Explores Italy takes children on an adventure through Italy as Ricky visits historic sites and tries delicious local food.

Berea Depot

Families can watch trains go by as they wait for their meal in Berea Depot, located at 30 Depot Street. The restaurant was established in 1876 and is constructed from huge blocks of locally quarried sandstone. When seated in the trackside dining room, you’d be right where the train platform once stood. The menu contains starters, mouthwatering sandwiches (called Hand-Helds), entrees, salads, flatbreads, and sides. Reservations are necessary when parties contain five or more people, whether it’s for indoor or patio dining; they can be made by calling 440-243-6169. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Thanks, at least in part, to the Thomas the Tank Engine series, it won’t be hard to find engaging children’s books to read about trains. The youngest family members should enjoy The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper, just like families have been for nearly one hundred years.
