Renee Kamenos

Renee Kamenos Marketing Coordinator

EDUCATION Parma Senior High School COLLEGE Associates Degree, Administrative Assisting from Bryant and Stratton Business College

ABOUT Ms. Kamenos has been employed with Horizon for the last four years as an Executive Assistant to David Smith. She has known the Smith family for about twelve years. She was a Cub and Boy Scout Leader with Dave Smith for several years. Ms. Kamenos currently lives in North Olmsted with her three beautiful children. She spends most of her time on the sidelines cheering on her children at their sporting events. Ms. Kamenos also assists Mr. Smith with the non-profit advocacy group, The Ohio Association of Child Care Providers; where Mr. Smith is President. She loves the challenges of her position at Horizon. 


Jennifer Butler Deputy Finance Director

Education Business Courses at LCCC

About Jennifer Butler originally started with Horizon in 2005 at the newly established East Lorain Center as a receptionist. In 2006 Jennifer moved to Horizon Finance Department as the AP Coordinator and currently is the Deputy Finance Director. In this position, she handles all billing for private pay and ODJFS families, trains Horizon Center Business Coordinators, bad debt collections, workers’ compensation claim cases and assists the Finance Director. Outside of work Jennifer enjoys reading, crafting and spending time with her family.


Ashley Fiefhaus Finance Coordinator

About Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Ashley Fiefhaus moved to Cleveland, OH and has obtained the position of Finance Coordinator in the Administration Office of Horizon Education Centers. Ashley has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY, and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY.

Janine Riley-Collins

Janine Riley-Collins Business Manager

About Janine started her career in the retail industry. Working in all aspects of the business , and directing programs related to Shortage Reduction and Risk management throughout North Eastern and Central Ohio. Joining the Horizon Administration team in January 2018, Janine took on the role of Business Manager. Handling project management, Safety and Security, Purchasing , Food Services, Maintenance and Transportation departments, she is utilizing her experience to guide and manage these Operational categories for all centers.


Lisa Nunn CACFP Coordinator

About Ms. Lisa has been with Horizon Education Centers for seven years. She enjoys building relationships with her students and their families. She is consistent and reliable and wants the children in her center to know that she will always be there for them. She is keen on building a stable environment for the children and staff. She has a good staff on board and she feels that they make a great team. She strives to provide children with opportunities they may not have access too. Such as taking them on field trips and exploring their options. Ms. Lisa is very dedicated to her center.


Dawn Marflake Education Service Director

Born and raised Elyria, Ohio Education John F. Kennedy High School College Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and is currently enrolled at Liberty University.

About Before working for Horizon, Mrs. Marflake managed a tennis club for 12 years. She realized she wanted a more meaningful career. Mrs. Marflake feels that her job at Horizon Education Centers chose her instead of her choosing it. September 2017 will mark her five-year anniversary with Horizon! As a Center Director, Mrs. Marflake feels happy and fulfilled working with the children/families and managing her center. Mrs. Marflake lives with her husband and three children in their new home located in Elyria, Ohio. Their family also includes one dog and one cat. When she is not busy with college courses or work she enjoys spending time with her family. She is an avid reader and finds that reading relaxes her.


Kelly Rolen Literacy Coordinator

Born and raised Parma, Ohio Education Parma Senior High School College Baldwin Wallace with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education Degree.

About Ever since Mrs. Rolen was 5 years old, she dreamt of becoming a teacher. Working with children is her passion, and she believes that kids are our future. She lives with her husband and children in North Olmsted. During her free time, she likes to go camping with her family. Mrs. Rolen is also in a bowling league and enjoys shopping.

About Originally from Southern Indiana, Nicole Hall moved to Cleveland in 2013 where she finished her Bachelor of Education in Exercise Science from Cleveland State University. Upon graduation, Nicole enrolled in Nova Southeastern University where she completed a Master of Science in Developmental Disabilities with concentrations in early childhood and leadership and advocacy. Nicole lives in North Olmsted with her boyfriend, Christian, and dog, Dakota. She looks forward to assisting teachers in guiding and teaching young, bright minds.

Leigh Yartz

Leigh Yartz Education Services Coordinator

ABOUT Originally  from Western New York, Leigh moved to Ohio in 2014 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Early Childhood Education at the College of Wooster. While at Wooster, Leigh worked at a preschool and had several field placements in local schools around the county. Following graduation in May 2018, Leigh moved to Cleveland and accepted a position as an Education Services Coordinator with Horizon. She is thrilled to start her career in the field of education and to act as a resource for teachers to help them succeed in the classroom!

Nicolle Bellmore-Pierse Americorp Director, RSG Coordinator

Born and raised Parma, Ohio Education Parma Senior High School College Bachelor’s Degree from Mercyhurst College, Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University, Master’s Degree from Walden University

About Nicolle started off her career working with adults with developmental disabilities before moving on to run a homeless shelter in Lorain, County. While working at the shelter Nicolle realized she wanted to make more of an impact with children in order to make a real difference in the community. Nicolle came to Horizon in October 2011 to start the Ready Set Go…to Kindergarten community collaborative. Along the way she took on more projects including teaching cpr/first, Child Abuse Recognition & Prevention and Yoga 4 Classrooms; developing and running Horizon’s AmeriCorps program; and supervising the staff of the Striving Readers grant and Southside Pride Collaborative. Nicolle is an active member of the Lorain County’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library committee and the Elyria Rotary. She couldn’t do any of this without the support of her husband and two girls. In her spare time Nicolle loves to read and plan Christmas activities!

Amanda Swanson

About From Northeast Ohio, Amanda started her career in customer service positions after realizing that her real passion was in education. In 2016 she became a substitute teacher for a few different school districts while pursuing her Master’s in Education. In 2017, she found herself in a permanent substitute position at Lorain High School in their culinary program through their career tech department before transitioning into Horizon after the summer. Her hopes are that with Horizon, she can continue with her passion for education and create a home where she can share her enthusiasm for learning with the children, parents and staff. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her 3 children doing family activities and loves to visit the ocean whenever possible.

About Alexia graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in Urban Studies and Organizational Leadership and minors in Nonprofit Management and Management and Labor Relations. She was President of her sorority in college and is an Alumna of Alpha Sigma Alpha. She is currently attending Cleveland State University Graduate School for Master in Public Administration. During her free time she enjoys cooking, working out and spending time with family and friends.

Saundra Boatright

Saundra Boatright Lead Science Teacher since 2015

Born and raised Lorain, Ohio. Education Lorain High School. College Lorain County Community College, Associate of Science, Bachelor’s in Nuclear Medicine from the University of Findlay.

About Mrs. Boatright originally wanted to go to college and get her education degree. However, she became ill and took a leave of absences. As she recovered she continued with her college classes and received her Bachelor’s in Nuclear Medicine. Mrs. Boatrigh also taught a religious education class and that is what inspired her to become a teacher. She lives with her husband and children. Mrs. Boatright enjoys reading and watching movies with her families during her free time.

About As Mrs. Chavalla was contemplating a career she found herself taking a career assessment test to direct her in the appropriate direction. The career assessment test revealed she would do well working with children. She started working at Eastern Heights Middle School, which is an affiliated afterschool program of Horizon Education Centers. Ms. Chavalla feels that she is making a difference in the children’s lives and encourages them to learn with everyday activities.

Bretta Dunlap

Born and raised Canton/LaGrange Education Catholic High School College Kent State University studied Special Deaf Education Stark State Technical College: Early Education degree.

About Mrs. Dunlap enjoys working with children and encourages them to grow and learn. She lives with her husband and two children. She actually met her husband on a radio date line, while she was listening to country and he was listening to rock! She enjoys working on arts and crafts during her free time.  Mrs. Dunlap is also a Girl Scout troop leader.

About Ms. Holbert’s daughter inspired her to get into the teaching field. She enjoys teaching children at Horizon Education Centers because she is a nurturer at heart. She lives with her three daughters. During her free time, she enjoys camping and summer trips to Cedar Point with her family.

Kayla Moore

About Ms. Moore’s inspiration to work with children came from taking care of her younger brother. She enjoyed teaching him and molding him into the young man he is today. She loves watching her children in her classroom grow and develop into the next phases of their lives. Ms. Moore lives with her stepmom, stepdad, and brother. She has two dogs and they are both rescue pets from the APL. Their names are Roscoe and Reggie.

About During my time at Ohio Business College I was a Student Tutor/Learning Center Aid for half my time attending. In the midst of High School and throughout higher education I was one of three board members of the Young Motivation Youth Club for Kindergarten to High schoolers for four years based in Lorain, Ohio. I began my work with Horizon at the South Elyria location in Wilkes Villa, later worked at Horizon’s North Olmsted location and finally transitioned to my current position, Southside Pride Collaborative Program Coordinator. This position has given me the chance to further my dreams of giving back to our youth. It is my honor to be able to give back to not only the same city that I grew up in, but to the same exact neighborhood of Wilkes Villa that I lived in for three years. This opportunity is not just a job for me, but my passion and I want to see my community succeed today and days after.

About Ms. Blocker started at Horizon Education Centers as a driver and floater for school age and became the Business Coordinator shortly after. Her favorite part of her job is helping families get the resources they need to reach their educational and personal goals. She loves travelling and learning about cultures in new places and spends her spare time LARPing and collecting vinyls.

Education Brunswick High School College Graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a Bachelor in Science of Education. Ms. Amber’s area of concentration is early childhood education, K-12 mild/moderate specialist, and 4/5 endorsement.

About Ms. Amber has worked in childcare since 2008, and absolutely Love’s the experience she has previously gained as a Center Director. Amber is grateful to promise her students, parents, and North Olmsted Horizon Education Center- knowledge, kindness, safety, and most important- respect. As a blessed “mommy” of Gianni and Gabriella, Amber feel’s all children can learn and have fun with creativity and encouragement in the classroom environment every day.

About Sarah served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years, where she completed a deployment to Afghanistan. After having her first child she left the military to finish her teaching degree in Early Childhood. In 2016 she began working as a toddler teacher then moved up to preschool and school age and eventually became a Center Director. She also has 3 wonderful children of her own who consume all of her free time.

About Mrs. Allan-Khalil, is our business coordinator at Horizon Education Centers. She lives with her husband and five children. Mrs. Allan-Khalil comes from a big family and has always been around children. It was only natural for her to work at the center in a school setting. She is dedicated and a very hard worker. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

About Mrs. D’Silva has been working at Horizon for the past three years. She enjoys teaching children. Mrs. D'Silva is the lead teacher of the Lego Club at the center. She loves it when children create art with Legos while using their imaginations. Mrs. D’Silva lives with her husband and daughter. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Shana Hutton

ABOUT Shana Hutton is a lead S.A.C teacher at the North Olmsted location. She works with students that are in kindergarten through second grade. She currently attends Cleveland State University, and is working toward her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked for Horizon for a total of 4 years, and have worked in a variety of position. Shana taught preschool as an assistant teacher, was a classroom/building aide, and is currently a lead S.A.C teacher. She's bubbly, spunky, and just as colorful as her classroom. Shana has a passion for the education field, and wants to pass her love for learning on to the students in the classroom. She believes that all children are capable of learning, and that the classroom should be a safe, fun, and engaging place.

East Lorain Center

Rebecca Wisiniewski Center Director at East Lorain; since 2013

About Ms. Wisniewski taught kindergarten for 13 years and then began her career with Horizon as a lead Head Start Preschool Teacher and as a Horizon staff member at Eastern Heights Middle School. She was then promoted to the site coordinator position for North Olmsted Middle School’s afterschool program before becoming the center director at our East Lorain Horizon Education Center. Ms.Wisniewski believes that Horizon Education Center’s heart is in the right place. The organization offers a wide-range of educationally enriched programs for students and their families. She enjoys working with the children and the staff at the center and believes that good teamwork is the key to running a successful business, helping the children learn and grow. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, family, and friends. She enjoys concerts, the beach and traveling.

About Mrs. Stephanie loves her students. She enjoys molding her preschoolers and getting them ready for Kindergarten. She feels that the three-to-five age group is a fun and cute age. In 2010, she was hired in the office. Then she was hired on to work in a preschool room for half of the day as an assistant. When Mrs. Stephanie heard of an opening at Head Start, she applied there and got the position as a lead. Mrs. Stephanie also works a lead councilor for Horizon’s Summer Camp program. She is an inspiring teacher. She enjoys the variety and the fact that there is never a dull moment at the Center. During her free time, which she has very little of, she is studying, working on homework and is an avid learner.

Catherine New

About Catherine has worked for East Lorain Horizon since May of 2008, but she has been with the organization since 2005. She enjoys working with children of all ages, their smiles are what motivate and inspire her to teach. Each child has helped Cathy become the teacher she is today. She learns something new every day that makes her a better teacher and she loves her job. Cathy has 4 children from the ages 8mos to 14yrs of age. All of her children have attended Horizon preschool program and throughout the years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

About Freelance artist whose work has been shown in galleries and previously won numerous competitions. Currently, a freelance artist who specializes in portraits and murals, also about to illustrate my first children's book. I have two children, preschooler, and an infant. On weekends we explore different places in Ohio such as the aquarium, zoo, cliffs, caves, and waterfalls. I am Very active with my children, and truly believe children learn by playing and exploring and through play, children have a chance to practice what they learned.

About Since Ms. Michelle was 10 years old, she has always wanted to work with children. She enjoys working with kids and being in a school setting. During her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and sports like hockey. She enjoys baking yummy desserts and feels that helps relaxes her when she’s not busy with work or school.

About Ms. Breana started her career with Horizon Education Centers after seeing the love and dedication that her mother had working at Horizon.  Her mother inspired her to continue her education to become a teacher.  Ms. Breana is enrolled in the Learn to Earn Program with Horizon Education Centers.  During her free time, she enjoys sporting events, concerts and loves to vacation when she is able.

About When Mrs. King was in High School she enrolled in an Early Childhood program which inspired her to become a Teacher. The children at the center keep her on her toes. About Ms. Teria, started her career with Horizon right out of college. She has worn many hats for Horizon, Preschool Teacher, School Age Coordinator, Program Specialist in the Administration Building, Education Service Coordinator and finally Center Director. During her free time, Ms. Teria sings and volunteers at her church where her father is the pastor. She lives with her daughter and enjoys spending time with her daughter and her family every chance she gets.

About When Ms. Frances first started working for Horizon she realized very quickly that this job was the right fit for her! She is great with kids and can relate to them. She’s tried working at other jobs but working with children is what interested her the most. She enjoys teaching, watching them learn and satisfying their curiosity. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Over the summer months, she enjoys taking her brother and sister to Kalahari and the African Safari Wildlife Park in Sandusky.  She loves to travel and spend quality time with family and friends.

About Ms. Sonja had completed classes through the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services before being hired with Horizon. She received her Certification in Early Childhood Education.  Ms. Sonja has always worked with children so this career was a good fit for her. She has worked with Horizon for 12 years! She has developed a meaningful relationship with the children and families at the center. Ms. Sonja lives with her daughter who also works for the company. During her free time, she enjoys relaxing at home with her family and watching the latest films.

About Mrs. Johnston is currently enrolled in Horizon's Learn to Earn Progam where she is attending college to become a teacher. She originally took some training through Lorain County’s joint vocational program in Child Care. Mrs. Johnston chose this profession because she enjoys teaching children and giving them the proper tools to guide them in life. During her free time, she likes to spend time with her husband of 28 years and her four children. She also volunteers at a homeless shelter in the community and does charity work.

About After having children, Ms. Napier decided that she wanted a career that involved children. She found the perfect position and started teaching in a Head Start Program. About Ms. Auradel is originally from New York. She moved to Ohio to be with her family. When she moved to Ohio she babysat a lot and that in turn inspired her to work with children. Later, she was offered a position with Horizon and was happy to take the job. She enjoys spending time with her children and niece, during her free time. She also operates a home-based business which keeps her busy.
