Old Brooklyn Center

Located near I-71 and State Route 176, our Old Brooklyn Center, which earned the highest quality Gold Rating from the State of Ohio's "Step Up to Quality Program, offers year-round programming for students 18 months to 14 years of age and a safe supportive environment for children. It also offers transportation for school-age children to and from local schools, preschool scholarships and is unique as the only two-story center with a slide, enhancing the educational and recreational experience for children and families.

Our Old Brooklyn Child Care and Preschool Center hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Program Highlights

Our staff develops language and literacy, as well as social, emotional and physical skills. Our staff members guide their students with various teaching methods that are based on recommendations from the state of Ohio, including:

  • Individual Learning Plans

Hana Mohammad

Center Director

EDUCATION: Bachelor Degrees in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences from Cleveland State University and an Associate Degree in Science from Cuyahoga Community College

ABOUT: Hana Mohammad has been with Horizon for nine years. She is working towards earning her teaching licenses in grades 7-12 Language Arts. Hana has always enjoyed working with children and creating a great rapport with the students, families and staff.

Dawon Taylor

Business Coordinator
EDUCATION CDA from Ashworth College, Diploma in Social Work, Hospitality Management, Human Resources from Allison Business School, and pursuing an Associate Degree in Human Resources Administration from Ashworth College.  

ABOUT Mr. Taylor runs our after-school program at Ben Franklin Elementary School. He enjoys developing new projects, hosting family nights, building rapports with families and staff, and working with Horizon students.

Glendalie Abreu Santana

Lead Toddler Teacher

EDUCATION Child Development Associate (CDA) credential from the Council for Professional Recognition

ABOUT Ms. Glendalie has always been very passionate about being part of a child’s growth and development. She treats children with the utmost respect and dignity. Glendalie is excited to meet Horizon families and for the opportunity to help shape their children's futures. 

Michelle Shepard

Lead School Age Teacher

EDUCATION Child development associate (CDA) accreditation, pursuing a bachelor's degree in early child education 

ABOUT Ms. Michelle's desire to teach and shape young minds has led her to work in childcare for over 30 years. She just moved to the Cleveland area and is excited to see where Horizon takes her.

Brandilyn Petitto

Lead School-Age Teacher

EDUCATION: Currently working to complete her Associate's degree in Education, with plans to pursue her Bachelor's in Education.

ABOUT: Ms. Brandilyn has been a part of the Horizon community for just over a year. Her hope is to build and maintain strong relationships with the children and families that attend the Old Brooklyn location and assist them in reaching their goals.

Sydney Smith

Lead School-Age Teacher
EDUCATION Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
 
ABOUT Ms. Sydney is a passionate college student on her journey to earn a Bachelor's degree in Education. With a heart full of enthusiasm for working with children, she believes in the power of learning and the joy of discovery. Committed to shaping young minds, Sydney is dedicated to creating engaging and inclusive classrooms where every student can thrive.

Lead Preschool Teacher
EDUCATION Currently working on her CDA through Horizon Education Centers

Tynesha Perry

Lead Preschool Teacher
EDUCATION Currently taking Early Childhood Education classes to obtain her preschool teaching license
 
ABOUT Ms. Perry has always loved helping others and places a focus on being an advocate for children. When she not in the classroom, you can find her enjoying her favorite shows, cooking, listening to music, being a mom and spending quality time with her family.
