At our Lakewood Center, staff members provide enriched child care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

It's also very close to downtown Cleveland and offers many great features, including:

Horizon Education Centers' School-age programs provide transportation to city schools before and after school to help working parents.

We have been offering educational experiences for children for more than 40 years, including:

  • Child care
  • Preschool programs
  • Before and after-school programs
  • Summer camp

We develop language and literacy, as well as social, emotional, and physical skills.  Our staff members guide their students with various teaching methods that are based on recommendations from the state of Ohio, including:

  • State standards
  • State assessments
  • Individual learning plans

Horizon Education Centers focus on kindergarten readiness and school-age enrichment, and we're a part of the Ohio Healthy Program which ensures that your children have healthy food options daily. 

Our focus is on kindergarten preparedness and school-age enrichment, using state standards, tests, and individual learning plans as our guide.

And. we're excited to collaborate with Invest In Children's Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program to provide a high-quality preschool experience for the families and children we serve.

Hours: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

ABOUT Over the course of her more than five years in the field, Miss Stephanie has worked with children of all ages.  Her love for the infant room comes from the desire to see the infant grow and develop from loving care and nurturing their minds.  Every day is a milestone in the lives of infants.

ABOUT Ms. Melinda has worked with children for over 25 years. Previously, she worked for Community United Head Start as a lead teacher and then later as a site administrator for 19 years. Her mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, child-centered, and quality educational environment that fosters a child's individual success and a love of learning in collaboration with parents and the community.

ABOUT Ms. Sharon has a passion for teaching. She's been in the field of education for over five years.  Her favorite part of teaching is watching the children light up with excitement when they learn something new.

ABOUT Ms. Dominique has worked with children as a nanny prior to joining Horizon's Lakewood location and has also taught dance to children for a number of years.  Dominique's love of children shows with her engagement with them daily, fostering their growth and development.

EDUCATION Associate degree in early childhood education from Tri-C

ABOUT Ms. Diane has worked with all age groups of children since 1999.  She started working in child care because of her love for children, and her own as well, fostering her desire to create better learning experiences for all children everywhere.

EDUCATION: Associate's Degree In Early Childhood Education from Cuyahoga Community College
ABOUT: The driving force behind Miss Brittney's passion for teaching the past 14 years is the look of excitement on a student's face when they're learning a new lesson and they "get it."  That incredible feeling and the impact learning has on children, is why she became a teacher. 

Jason Evans Preschool Lead Teaching Assistant

EDUCATION Associate of Arts with a focus in American Sign Language, Tri-C

ABOUT Mr. Jason is new to full-time teaching after years of camp counseling, literacy tutoring and volunteering. He's excited to to apply his cultural studies and performance background to  his professional transition into Early Childhood Education. Mr. Jason is currently completing his national certification as a Child Development Associate.
