Beating the Heat

One of the best ways to cool down during a hot summer day is a dip in a refreshing pool, but sometimes your young ones can’t swim yet. Fortunately, there is a fun and often free or low-cost solution: spraygrounds! In a sprayground, water is sprayed out of fountains to allow your child to put on a swimsuit and safely play in the cool water.

Although these spraygrounds are much safer than swimming in a pool or lake, it’s crucial that a responsible adult supervises a child at all times.

Benefits abound for young children engaged in water play. Here is just one way that’s true for toddlers: “Toddlers are very tactile. They like to explore with all their senses and they enjoy all kinds of sensory activities — water play is one of these. It’s a combination of learning and enjoyment.”

Musical Moments

Even the youngest (and oldest) among us enjoys moving to the beat of music, so outdoor summer concerts can be an ideal form of summer fun for the entire family.

Listening to music is beneficial for people of all ages, including young children. According to ChildrensMusicWorkshop.com, music literally makes you happier, as your brain releases a “feel-good” substance while you listen to music you enjoy. This can make you feel “happiness, excitement and joy.” Listening to music can help people sleep better afterward and aids in improving both learning and memory.

Bring a Blanket and Popcorn

Outdoor movie nights abound!
