Horizon Education Centers is excited to announce the purchase and renovations of the former Lakewood Baptist Church building into a full-service childcare and youth development center, marking a major milestone in expanding early childhood education services in the Lakewood community.
The building officially opened Monday, September 8th after relocating from its smaller facility across from St. Edwards High School. Phase One is to offer current care and education programs in the former church's annex. The remainder of the building will be renovated, allowing for the expansion of programs into after-school and summer programs. The current operation serves approximately 60 children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age, offering high-quality infant, toddler, and preschool programs. Like all our centers, Lakewood offers highly qualified and compassionate teachers and support staff. The center also has a Gold rating under Ohio’s childcare tiered rating system, Step Up to Quality.
To celebrate the start of our new Lakewood location and construction on the currently unused portion of the building, Horizon will host a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM, with reception to follow. The renovation will allow Horizon to expand its services to include school-age programming, serving more than 200 children up to 12 years old. The expansion is also expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 30 staff members.
