Benefits of quality child care

In 2012, the Developmental Psychology journal confirmed the importance of quality child care – and not only during the years of childhood. People who attended high-quality child care in the 1970s, a study conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill shows, are still reaping the benefits 30 years later!

Those who benefitted from quality in their child care went on to get more education overall, being four times as likely to earn a college degree.

The article also helps parents determine what quality child care really means, defining it as appropriately low ratios of students to teachers who are attentive to children’s needs and who can tailor activities appropriately; and the availability of developmentally appropriate toys and books. At Horizon, we are committed to quality and to providing each child with the attention, activities and resources that he or she needs.
