Does your child show an exceptional aptitude for theater? Cleveland has the largest performing arts community between New York and Chicago. Help your little actor or actress let their light shine with these opportunities.

  • The Children's Theater at Playhouse Square offers periodic workshops in storytelling, dance and other performing arts. The fee for these 45-minute events is only $5 with parents admitted free of charge.
  • Talespinner Children's Theater develops and produces works to allow creative expression for kids across the full spectrum of socio-economic, cultural and traditional boundaries. They provide a variety of onsite classes and workshops that promote personal development as well as theatrical training. In addition, they have an outreach program that performs shows for schools and other groups.
  • Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood has a full schedule of summer classes for children aged one to five years. Subjects include visual arts, music and theater with an assortment of developmentally appropriate activities designed to encourage creativity and teamwork. Parents and caregivers receive complementary activities to continue the fun at home.
  • The Great Lakes Theater is auditioning children for their fall 2014 productions of Les Miserable and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Auditions are being held Wednesday, May 26 from 3 pm until 6 pm at Playhouse Square Rehearsal Halls. Appointments must be reserved by Thursday, May 22 at 5 pm.
