Westwood

On Monday afternoon, while other middle schoolers are watching TV or otherwise entertained by electronics;  five afterschool sites (N. Olmsted, N. Ridgeville, Eastern Heights, Westwood, & Northwood (Elyria) Middle Schools)-approximately 40 students, were gathered at the Cascade Horizon location to participate in a Science and Lego Olympiad. STEM is an integral part of the afterschool program. The students were very excited and eager to demonstrate all of the Science and Lego knowledge acquired during time in the Horizon Afterschool Program. The students displayed extreme amounts of talent in each of the following categories:

Lego Robotics

Bridge Building (1st place- Northwood)

Aerodynamics (1st place- N. Ridgeville)

Egg Drop (1st place- Westwood)

All students received medals for their effort and participation. Kudos to all of the Horizon Staff who worked so diligently to prepare all of the students for this event!
