Infant Care

Horizon Infant classrooms focus on social, emotional, and physical growth of children ages 6 weeks to 18 months. The classroom staff focuses on building a strong partnership with parents. Staff provides optimal individualization for each child with a sensory-rich environment and activities. Horizon’s classrooms provide the gentle support and encouragement needed to explore the world around them while developing new motor skills, language, and creativity.

Experience in an infant classroom is required. We prefer candidates who have a Child Development Associate (CDA), or a degree in Education or a related field.  You will create lesson plans and maintain documentation to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children.  Parent communication is key!

Infant Teacher Assistant: $13 (CPL 1) $15 (CPL 2 or higher)

A little experience in a childcare setting preferred and working towards or having a Child Development Associate (CDA) or degree in Education or a related field.  You will work with the lead teacher to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children.

Entry level or little experience needed. You are supporting the teachers in the classroom and assisting where needed. Part-time or Full-time positions. High School Diploma or Equivalent is all that is needed.

Toddler

Horizon’s Toddler classrooms focus on cognitive, language, and literacy development for children 18 months to 36 months of age. Children are encouraged to learn independent skills and build verbal & social development. Children develop their independence through fun learning experiences as they build valuable skills they need to interact with the world around them. There is also a strong focus on preschool readiness.

Preschool

Horizon’s Preschool classrooms focus on kindergarten readiness using developmental screenings, Creative Curriculum, and assessments for children 3 to 5 years of age. The program focuses on academics and intentionally focuses on academics and teaching of social and developmental skills. The staff work with the children in small groups on literacy skills along with numbers and letters recognition preparing the children for a Kindergarten setting.

Contract Teacher Preschool: $30,000 - $35,000 based on degree level

Experience in a preschool classroom is required along with CDA or a degree in Education or a related field. You will create lesson plans and maintain documentation to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children. Parent communication is key! Fulltime salary position with paid summer and breaks!

Preschool Lead Teacher Assistant: $15 (CPL 2), $16 (CPL 3 or higher)

A seasoned assistant who has completed a CDA and is ready to work in tandem with the Lead Teacher to take care of the classroom environment and lead classroom activities and lessons.

Preschool Teacher Assistant: $13 (CPL 1), $15 (CPL 2 or higher)

A little experience in a childcare setting preferred and working toward or having a Child Development Associate (CDA) or degree in Education or a related field. You will work with the lead teacher to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children.

School-Age

Horizon’s School-Age classrooms offer before and after school, and summer camp programs for children 6-12 years of age. The staff helps children with homework and provides hands-on STEAM exploration activities. Students are focused on physical, wellness, and character development. Horizon aims for children to feel comfortable in any setting by developing self-esteem and leadership skills.

School Age Lead Teacher: $13 (CPL 1), $15 (CPL 2), $17 (CPL 3 or higher)
Experience in a center-based, after-school setting preferred and willing to work toward a School Age Lead Teacher Endorsement or attain a degree in Education or related field. You will provide homework assistance, plan lessons and maintain documentation to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children. Parent communication is key!

School Age Teacher Assistant: $13 (CPL 1), $15 (CPL 2 or higher)
Experience in a center-based, after-school setting is helpful. You will work toward a School Age Endorsement or degree by completing online training. You will work with the lead teacher to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for the children. Some experience is needed.

School-Based Staff Member: $14 (CPL 1), $15.75 (CPL 2), $17 (CPL 3 or higher)
Experience in a site or school-based setting preferred and willing to work toward a School Age Lead Teacher Endorsement. You will provide homework assistance, plan lessons, and maintain documentation to provide an educational, safe, emotionally supportive environment for children.

Afternoon Tutor: $30
Tutoring experience along with a degree required for this position. A degree in education and a current teaching license are preferred. You will work on math and reading concepts with small groups of our school-age children. Prepare and implement lessons and maintain required documentation. Part-Time afternoon position.

Summer Camp Staff: $13
Help assist teachers with the daily curriculum and activities for educational-based learning that is fun and hands-on. Assist on field trips and help with clubs.

Summer Driver: $15
Professional driving experience preferred, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be willing and able to drive a 14-passenger school bus and a 6-passenger minivan. No CDL is required. Must be 21 years of age to drive Horizon vehicles. You will be trained to safely transport children to and from local schools or field trips in the summer. Summer hours are typically full-time Monday through Friday 8-5pm (hours may vary per site). Centers with an asterisk are hiring now for the rest of the school year for part-time, split-shift positions, hours are typically 7a-9a and 2p- 4p Monday through Friday. Other hours may be available as well for those willing to work in the classrooms.

Summer Maintenance: $12
Provide maintenance and janitorial support to child care centers and other Horizon facilities and property. Primarily work as part of a maintenance crew for special projects, or daily center needs involving maintenance and cleaning. This position reports to the Maintenance Coordinator and works at multiple locations, sometimes in the same day.
Transportation and work partner is provided. Training will be provided. 

This is a seasonal position that can develop into a permanent position for the right individuals.

Support Staff

Horizon’s support staff positions offer a variety of positions at the center level. These positions include transportation services and the food service program. Transportation drivers are responsible for shuttling school-age children from the center to schools in the area. Horizon’s fleet consists of small 34 passenger buses. Horizon’s food service program offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily at the center for all children. These positions also offer direct support to the centers.

Food Service Specialist: $13-14 with Safe Serve Certification

Experience with food service preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required. You will receive meals from the caterer and be responsible for prep, documentation, cleanliness, and food safety for breakfast, lunch, and snack meal service. Horizon will help you attain the ServeSafe Certification.

School Age Bus Driver: $15

Administrative

Administration positions provide and ensure efficient operational support to the company as a whole. These positions are held at or report to the administrative headquarters in North Olmsted. These positions are responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing operations of the centers; they include Maintenance Specialists, Operations Management, Human Resources, Americorps Members, Finance Department, Site Coordinator, Marketing Department, and District Managers.

Center Director

Experience in a child care center is required. You will oversee the operations of the center. You will manage your team, ultimately providing the highest quality of care and education. You must have an understanding of licensing and Step Up to Quality requirements and maintain or improve the star rating. You will manage payroll, scheduling, and retention as well as other job duties.  We require a Center Director to have 3 years of administrative experience in an ODJFS center along with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in ECE or a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. This is a full-time salaried position.

 Business Coordinator

Experience in a childcare or office setting preferred. You will oversee the business operations of the child care center, reporting to the Center Director. A few of the responsibilities you will have would be collecting tuition, reviewing attendance, and the subsidized care system. Enroll and register new families and maintain children's files.  This is a full-time salaried position.

Site Coordinator

Experience in a school age program along with a degree required for this position. You will be responsible for the coordination and execution of out of school time programming. The program is located within a partner school or center and will require supervision of staff and collaborating with school officials and community partners. Maintain and oversee documentation for grants and other programs that are a part of Horizon.

AmeriCorps Service Member

AmeriCorps Service Member: Must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. Some college in education, social work, or a related field preferred. Service members will work with preschool and school-aged children and their families on children's health and fitness.

We offer medical insurance to all employees working at least 30 hours per week. In addition, supplemental insurance is offered to all employees working at least 20 hours per week.

If eligible upon hire, tuition reimbursement can be used for one class per semester. Full-time employees receive 100% reimbursement. Part-time employees receive 50% reimbursement.

Discounted Childcare

Full-Time Employees (those working more than 20 hours per week) are eligible for a 75% discount on infant care. All other age bands are free with a $20 Family Administration Fee per pay period.

In addition, Grandparents and part-time employees (those working less than 20 hours per week) are eligible for a 50% discount on child care.
