Horizon Education Centers is proud to announce that the Lorain Community Center received a 5-Star quality rating from the State of Ohio's "Step Up To Quality" Child Care Rating System, the highest rating a center can receive.
The Lorain Community Center is located within the Constellation-Lorain Community School. It is under the direction of Heather LaMore, who has been with Horizon since 2015.
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services manage Step Up To Quality. It’s a tiered quality rating and improvement system. SUTQ honors and encourages learning and development programs that meet or exceed licensing health and safety norms in terms of quality.
The goal of the preschool program is to provide a high-quality kindergarten-readiness curriculum to all enrolled children.
Studies show children who participate in after-school programs benefit from increased academic performance, less emotional and behavioral issues, more physical activity, and the formation of healthy learning habits.

With the addition of Lorain Community, 9 out of Horizon’s 13 centers have earned a 5-Star Rating. The list includes Berea, Cascade - Elyria, East Lorain, Elyria-Dewhurst, Lakewood, South Elyria, Southside Lorain, Triskett Station, and now Lorain Community. The remaining three centers (Market Square, North Olmsted, Old Brooklyn) boast 4-star ratings.
