spring break activities.jpgIf you’re looking for fun spring break activities in Northeast Ohio that are appropriate for the entire family, then look no further than the Lorain County Metro Parks and Cleveland Metroparks. Each offers locations across Northeast Ohio for families to walk, hike, bike and soak in nature at its finest. Best of all, it’s all free.

We’re also including information about a specific upcoming indoor/outdoor Lorain County Metro Parks program with a nominal fee, along with indoor amusement park information at the I-X Center.

Dinosaurs!

You know the game of Operation, where children need to use tweezers to remove little bones from the patient-shaped game board? Well, you will be able to play this game using dinosaur bones, participate in a dino dig and much more.

From April 8 through May 7, kids of all ages can enjoy the Dinosaurs! exhibit at the Carlisle Reservation, 12882 Diagonal Road in LaGrange. Tickets are only $3 per person with children under the age of 3 admitted free, and the program is available every day from noon until 6 p.m. Children can explore both indoors and out, with the Indoor Dinosaur Discovery Display offering hands-on exploration of artifacts and other activities. Outdoors, children can walk the Dino Trail of displays and a fun scavenger hunt.

On weekends (other than Easter weekend April 14-16), food trucks will be available if you also want to eat lunch there. And, if you find that your child is especially interested in dinosaurs, you can also purchase games and souvenirs to take home. Find more information about the Dinosaurs! exhibit online or call 440-458-5121. On April 14 from 1 to 4 p.m., there is a free special craft and movie day, specifically on the theme of dinosaurs.

I-X Indoor Amusement Park

This indoor amusement park is open through April 17, and is ideal for spring break and Easter timing. More than 100 rides and attractions are available, ranging from Mountain Dew Thrill City rides to the Kidzville children’s area for younger family members. Located at One I-X Center Drive in Cleveland, hours are listed here.

In Mountain Dew Thrill City, you can find the “fastest and craziest rides ... to flip, drop, and spin you.” These include the Freakout, G-Force, Zipper and more, and they caution thrill seekers to “beware—you may have met your match here at Thrill City!”

Kidzville, meanwhile, features rides just right for smaller children, with some designed to allow Mom and Dad to ride along. Examples include the Giant Ferris Wheel and the Flivver Antique Cars—and then the entire family can race one another on the five-lane Giant Slide. Then there is the Dizzy Dragons and Bear Affair, the gentle Venetian Swing, the petting zoo and more.

Find pricing options here and call 1-800-897-3942 for more information. As with all events that we feature, we encourage you to call before visiting, just in case specifics have changed.New Call-to-action
